Still a Still by Leslie Rego

Variations on original pencil drawings

In this series, I am exploring the still-life genre in all of its forms, from the most lush and sedate to the most vulnerable and volatile.  Is a still life "Still a Still" if a sudden gale comes and disturbs all the flowers, or if a table topples and the vase goes flying?

It all started when I decided to play with multimedia variations based on my pencil drawings of tagines.  After carefully placing many pieces of fabric on my working surface, a fresh mountain draft came through the window and scattered everything all over my studio.   Rather than crying, I started this serendipitous collection.
