My husband was born and raised in the Spanish colonial town of Antigua Guatemala. Our three children were also born in Antigua and we lived in this lovely cobble-stoned gem for many years before settling in Sun Valley, Idaho.
In Guatemala, I was surrounded with an abundance of color and I was exposed to many lively and exotic combinations of patterns and rhythms. Ultimately, these wonderful adventures enhanced my experimental approach to the art of quilting.
I am intrigued by the ageless character, the untold stories, and the stoicism of these compelling structures. In this series, I am recreating the lush and crumbling textures—and colors—of exterior and interior walls by means of a variety of media and techniques.
